WHY I DO THIS?

One of the biggest reasons why I chose to learn mechanical engineering is because I really want to make tangible products for a living, though it took some time to recognize my position in such a vague, high-school-level objective(since making such products requires the collaboration of multidisciplinary discussion: product design, engineering, industrial manufacturing, marketing, economics....+++).
However, I still strongly believe that to achieve that high-level of cooperation, each member should essentially be aware of a certain depth of other aspects as well, rather than being indifferent, regarding such things as the other’s business. Otherwise, such cooperation will remain at the level of passive, machine-like moving while recognizing the other can help the entire entity to act in a systematic, organism-like movement.
On top of that, studying this mindset of cutting-edge level company’s design projects, products, or case studies not only implies the entire process of cooperation but the power of humanity as well. Not only engineering, such studies that are related to making something tangible or even abstract things, like literature, politics, marketing, are not evaluated for how efficient they are, but how humane they are. Everyone must have heard of the story about the regret of Alfred Nobel, the inventor of the dynamite, and many disastrous consequences from various political wars throughout history. However, we cannot ignore the fact that collaboration of proper humanity and those studies have brought prosper and convenience that people nowadays enjoy. We are all looking for something that we urge, while yet we do not know so well about what we actually urge, paradoxically.
Great Designers and founders of many leading companies warned that the next big wave is coming, and the key to board on is written in humanity. As an engineer, I strongly believe that I should be responsible for the possible consequences of my inventions, and to fully understand and regulate those effects, the one who makes it should necessarily be aware of ‘what’ he or she is making in real terms. The one who creates random things for his own sake, must not be sorted as an engineer, but a potential disaster.
Lastly, I want to explore many inspirations, the flow of thinking, and trends from great designers all over the world. The very first design project I met is ‘Kitchen for 2025’(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qD60cBQOABY). At the moment I confronted all descriptions and working histories, I could feel an unexplainable explosion inside of myself and really wanted to be part of such beautiful work that can make our world a better place with technology. To achieve that goal, what I thought that I should prepare from now on was 2 things: stretching creativity(which is based on the power of the abstract world), and studying engineering(the power of the real-world). 5 years later(since the date I am writing this article is 2021.01.06), I am currently majoring in mechanical engineering at Korea University and studying embedded devices with artificial intelligence. Meanwhile, the other part of my scribbles and struggles will be recorded on this blog from time to time.
Plus, I will write most of my postings in English, in order to learn it naturally during the entire process. However, since it is not my mother tongue, there might be some awkward sentences or phrases. Please leave any suggestions or better expressions for me.
